This is a tour planed for cycling. You bring your own bicycle or you can rent a Brompton from me.
Very easy on the foot (pedal) and with few ramps to mention. The ideal route to discover and explore some of the loveliest towns of the Empordà - particularly those with a rich medieval background. Narrow and quaint cobble-stone streets, arcades, with beautiful square, all beautifully restored and preserved.
- Monells. With a large square which in the days of King Jaume one of the most important public markets took place.
- Ullastret. With the extraordinary church with three apses.
- Peratallada, and his beautiful medieval palace and the lovely old streets.
- Pals, with its medieval Wall and the tower.
Gualba. This town has an interesting feature and is the old bridge where marks of the cart wheels can still be seen…
About the Tour:
Distance: From start to finish it’s about 55 km.
The route is 100% good for cycling. Only a third of the route is on gravel road, the rest is all paved.
The best time to enjoy this bicycle tour is in autumn, winter or spring, when temperatures are nice, and roads are more peaceful.
Although the itinerary can be covered quite comfortably in one day I suggest to over-night, that way you get to experience the lovely and unique evenings of the Empordà.
